SHIBARI MUNCH
Our Shibari munch is a casual, social catch-up for anyone interested in rope - no tying, just chats. It’s a great chance to meet others in the community, ask questions, share ideas, and connect over food and conversation in a relaxed, non-judgmental setting. Newbies and experienced folk all welcome!
You’ll find us at the munch by looking for a piece of rope on the table and someone wearing a Newcastle Shibari shirt (note, to avoid inadvertently announcing the event and to ensure it is safe and comfortable for everyone to attend, only one team member will be wearing a shirt). If you’re having trouble finding us, feel free to reach out - we do check messages throughout the munch.
New to the community? Just let us know beforehand, and a team member will meet you, introduce you to other rope enthusiasts, and help you settle in for a relaxed and friendly afternoon.

What is a munch?
In the BDSM and kink community, a munch is a low-key social meetup. It usually happens in a public place like a café, restaurant or pub and is a chance for people to hang out, chat, and get to know each other in a pressure-free setting. There’s no play involved — it’s just about conversation and connection.
Munches are a great way to meet like-minded people, especially if you’re new or don’t know many others in the community yet. They offer space to ask questions, share experiences, and talk about things like consent, safety, and interests at your own comfort level. Because they’re held in everyday public spaces, they tend to feel approachable and welcoming, even for first-timers.
