About Us
Newcastle Shibari is a community-focused rope collective bringing Shibari workshops, performances, and events to Newcastle and beyond.
Run by deeply passionate rope enthusiasts who love sharing their passion with those who want to learn. Our goal is to create safe, welcoming spaces to learn, explore, and connect through rope.
Meet the team
• @anchor_rope_ (Duncan, he/him): With nearly two decades of tying experience, Duncan is a long-time educator and community organiser, previously running the Newcastle Rope Dojo and Hunter Rxx. He ties within the Akechi Denki lineage and brings a thoughtful, technical approach grounded in connection, intimacy, and care. Safety and consent are central to everything he teaches.
• @Kink_Apprentice (Morgan, he/him): Morgan has over five years of experience and began his rope journey learning from Duncan before continuing his training in Sydney. He brings curiosity, fresh energy, and a strong focus on ongoing learning to his teaching and practice.
• @Ropeunzel_ (Alyssa, she/her): A highly experienced rope bottom, Alyssa specialises in both floor work and suspension. She offers a grounded, embodied perspective on rope, with a strong focus on communication, trust, and the lived experience of being tied.
