Our fortnightly classes are accessible and affordable, catering to all skill levels. Level 1 covers fundamental ties and frictions, while Level 2 builds on these foundations to teach the Takate Kote. Whether you're just starting or looking to refine your skills, our classes provide a supportive space to grow your rope practice.

Special Events

At various times throughout the year, we will feature special guest presenters who will bring their unique expertise to our events. These guests may teach classes, share demonstrations, or perform, offering attendees an opportunity to learn new techniques.

Private lessons

The levels

LEVEL ONE

Level 1 covers beginners material. You can attend this class if you're new to shibari or need a refresher. No partner or experience required. We have class rope available, should you not have your own.

Level two

Level 2 is designed to put the knots and frictions you learn in level 1, together into a harness. You'll be learning step by step, the takate kote (TK). A partner is recommended for this class.

Level Three

Level 3 is for the regulars, or anyone who is comfortable with the basics and is ready to move onto the next things! The class is run fortnightly and the content is different EVERY TIME. So, you can keep repeating level 3 classes, and learn something new in each lesson

The content for the class may not be announced in advance. Knowing the group we're working with helps us prepare the content we're covering. Examples of content covered are leg ties, hip harnesses, teppou, TK variants, tengu, hishis, bamboo etc.

L3 classes have assumed knowledge of Level 1 & 2.

A partner is recommended for these classes, but depending on the content, it may not be necessary.

If you have something in particular that you'd like to see covered in this class, please reach out and let us know!

Level Four

Once we have a good group of regulars attending level 3, and think it is necessary to open up a level 4, we will start this.

Level 4 will consist of things like partials, uplines and suspensions. However, we need to see commitment and consistency from our community to be able to offer these kinds of lessons.

Hopefully we can work together to get here in the coming year!!!

After completing our Level 1 class, you’re eligible to join our BeginnersMembership for $100. This membership gives you 100% off your next steps; Level 2, Level 3, and our social event T.I.E.S. That’s a total saving of $60 while supporting your ongoing learning and helping you build confidence and community in rope. Only valid for 48 hours after your beginners class, so get in quick to secure this this discount.

Where to get rope?

We recommend rope from our friends at Evil Girls HQ in Brisbane. It is affordable and great quality.

Get to Know Us

• @anchor_rope_ (Duncan, he/him): Duncan has been a rigger for almost 2 decades. He is an educator who loves to share his joy in the subject with his community, having previously run and organised the Newcastle Rope Dojo, and the Hunter Rxx. A passionate student of Nawashi Kanna, he ties in the Akechi Denki lineage. While this is a more technical style, Duncan feels it is focused at its core on the love, understanding, and sexuality of the bond between participants. Safety and consent are paramount concerns.

• @Kink_Apprentice (Morgan, he/him): Morgan, with over 4 years of experience, initially learned from Duncan himself and has since undergone extensive training in Sydney. His journey in Shibari is a testament to continuous learning and exploration, offering fresh perspectives and a passion for sharing the art's nuances.

• @Ropeunzel_ (Alyssa, she/her): A seasoned rope bottom with expertise in both floor work and suspensions, Alyssa brings a profound understanding of the experience and dynamics of being tied. Her insights enrich our sessions with depth and sensitivity.
